The best way of maintaining a healthy weight (body mass index 20 – 25) is to eat sensibly and exercise moderately at all times – with the occasional treat! But think consciously about what you eat. If you do put on weight, or have gone well beyond your ideal weight, crash diets don’t work in the long-run!

We can slip back again into our old habits, be they eating weight gaining foods and high calorie drinks, or just having larger portions than we need.

It can sometimes be difficult to stick to the right quantities of healthy foods and a good exercise routine. Both require motivation and adjustment in our eating habits.

Comfort eating

Sometimes people put weight on because there are underlying emotional issues which need to be resolved. We’ve all heard of ‘comfort eating’ and being overweight can be because deep down a person is unhappy, lonely, lacks confidence, has low self-esteem or is simply bored. What they eat and drink supplies both nutrition AND the emotional comfort for their anxieties.

How many sessions will I need?

In the absence of major emotional issues, you will normally need three sessions at weekly intervals. This will boost your willpower and motivate you to reach your goals.

Visualisation is also very powerful to give you the right mind-set for success. Suggestions will be included as part of your therapy to sustain your efforts long-term.

Clients often comment after these sessions that they feel calmer, more content, relaxed and positive - more determined to achieve their goals. Also many clients find that a monthly booster session greatly helps them stay on track in maintaining their ideal size.

Eating Disorders and hypnoanalysis

Should there be some compulsion towards over-eating, eating unhealthy food, or drinking excessively, these pose a different challenge. Other symptoms of emotional disharmony may also be present such as depression, anxiety, food and drink binging, or bulimia.

A course of hypnoanalysis will then be the best strategy. In general, 6 - 12 weekly sessions will be required. After this, you will be a more confident and self-aware person, as well as an attractive body size.
