Does worry make you stressed & anxious?

Or stress & anxiety cause you to worry?

work, health, family conflicts, financial worries, housing, guilt, temper,
relationships, past mistakes, changing job, debt, public speaking, moving home,
bereavement, meetings, deadlines, unemployment, appearance, insecurity,
parents, ability, getting older and more!

Why worry, some anxiety & stress is normal.
It keeps us alert, on our toes, focused. Enhances mental & physical performance.

Yet too much is too much! It can lead to stress-related symptoms:
fears, panic attacks, depression, Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS),
self-esteem & confidence issues, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD),
physical diseases, perfectionism, phobias, weaker immunity and more.

Mind-body [psychosomatic] conditions.

Do men and women cope with stress & anxiety differently?

Could be women find it easier to talk about their feelings.
Whereas men can bottle them up.
Believing they need to present a brave face to the world.
Admitting to mental distress can be difficult. Fear is our greatest enemy.

To cope with stress and anxiety some men self-medicate with alcohol &/or drugs.
Women might comfort eat to feel better, or under eat.
Fortunately, men are now becoming more open. Which is, of course, good.

With interchangeable roles, men and women are now becoming
more similar in their coping habits.

Under pressure we can disregard our health. Take too little exercise. Smoke.
Feel demotivated. Eat too much. Drink too much. Neglect personal hygiene. Feel dissatisfied.
Eat unhealthily. Gamble. Lack energy and feel depressed...

Self-esteem suffers. Confidence reduced. Inner-belief undermined. We lose our way...

Yes, our society provides lots of variety and choice. Many goods and services. But there can be a downside. Advertising, product innovation and social media encourage us to believe having more 'things' will make us more & more content. But now we're beginning to doubt if more stuff actually does make us happier.

What really matters?. What makes us fulfilled? Happier. Develop our potential. Creating inner-confidence. Give us a better understanding of our purpose in life. To Become The Person You Want to Be...

Our mind is incredible! When it's focused. Has a strategy. Free of old issues. Bad habits.  Resilient. Free from fear & anxious. Healthier & fitter. Mentally stronger. Motivated to succeed. Having wider horizons. To enjoying life each day…

To many people this means: being less anxious, to not worry, become more confident, free from depression, clear of undesirable habits, more optimistic & positive, less stressed and having an inner self-confidence.

Will hypnosis control my mind?

The answer is certainly not, you won't be controlled in any way. In fact, for many people a hypnotic trance is a frequently accessed state of mind. It's when we daydream. Access our inner thoughts. As distinct from being externally focused, when we need to concentrate.

Fortunately we don't need to consciously think through every part our life. Having 'automatic' thoughts and actions (mind-matters) saves time and effort. These are our habits, many of which will be well established. Some good, some bad. Habits are engaged when the analytical part of the mind is resting. Being lazy, if you like. Then we are on 'automatic pilot'. Able to do things without the effort of thinking. Such as smoking, comfort eating, nail biting, being pessimistic...there's a long list.

With our range of well-rehearsed habits we could literally 'daydream' our way through life. Not that we should, of course! Because having conscious awareness in thoughts and actions is essential for sensible logical cognitive decisions. Making beneficial changes. Developing knowledge and skills.

When we are internally focused we are in a daydream. In other words, self-absorbed in a trance. The depth of that trance will vary. Sometimes out of the blue a thought may appear that reminds us of a need. A relaxed mind allow subconscious thoughts to become more consciously accessible. Out of the blue, we might be reminded of something we need to do.

Then we can access the 'back of our mind' including: memories and their associated feelings, perceptions, hopes, plans, fears, confidence, beliefs, habits, doubts, imagination, creativity and self-esteem.

These are elements of our personality, influenced by past experiences, developed beliefs and knowledge. Added to our genetic inheritance. There will certainly be an emotional dimension, particularly arising from the formative years. We absorb so much when we are young. Other aspects of our personality will be contributed by the conscious mind.

Stress arises when there is conflict between the conscious and subconscious. For example, a subconscious smoking habit might conflict with a conscious need (for health reasons) to become a committed non-smoker.

Which is why natural hypnosis is so powerful. There are no side-effects, other than being relaxed. It is highly effective at reprogramming the subconscious to facilitate change. Restoring harmony, removing habits, so you become less stressed & anxious.

What Clients Say

"I came to see you for several sessions to help me with my social phobia/anxiety. I honestly don't know if I have ever told you what a huge difference you made to my life. I had reached a point in my life where I knew I had a problem, you were the person who started me on the path to coping and understanding it. I am forever in your debt for that". Philip

"After trying almost everything to stop smoking (without success), I came to see Alan for a stop smoking hypnotherapy session. Not knowing what to expect, Alan put me at ease and it turned out to be a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

It's now been 10 years since I touched a cigarette, I've never looked back or missed smoking - almost like Alan turned a switch off in my head. Best thing I've done for my health EVER! Can't thank Alan enough". Ross S Anderson, Director Radar Music Videos

“I attended an interview last week and I felt very relaxed and confident, Hence a phone call this morning with an offer of the job, how great is that!” Brenda

“I visited Alan Gray earlier this year as I was experiencing personal problems. On my first visit I found Alan to be a person who never judges you, but who was quite happy to sit and listen to the problems I was experiencing. The more sessions I attended the more I found I was able to talk openly about my troubles. The hypnotherapy I underwent has made me stronger as a person and all this is down to one person: Alan Gray. I would not hesitate to seek treatment from Alan in the future if I need to”. Stephen

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for giving me my life back. When I wake in the morning I'm ready to face the world with confidence and relish. Once again Alan many thanks. If it wasn't for you I would still be suffering from the problems that you have been able to resolve with your patient treatment and also sense of humour and understanding”.Steve.

“I went to hypnotherapy to seek help for a phobia that I have had for as long as I can remember and I thought I was going to have it forever. When I went to Alan I was skeptical however I was greeted with a lovely, chatty gentleman who made me feel very at ease and after my first session with him I saw a drastic improvement in my phobia. I had 3 sessions and my phobia has disappeared and I can now live without the limitations that my phobia caused me. I never thought it would be so easy to get rid of but it was. I would highly recommend Alan to anyone”. Jade-Taylor.

“I feel good, I'm more confident, more positive and of course that has an effect on everything - life's pretty good, so thank you! Alison.

“Saw Alan Gray for one hour some 18 months ago and have not smoked since!” Frank.

“I had to give a talk to a group of important people at college and was terrified by the thought! Hypnotherapy gave me the confidence I needed”. Susan.

“Hi Alan, after our last session my weight has dropped over half a stone!” Suzi.

“I consulted Alan Gray for an anxiety problem and found him understanding and kind. Alan tailored my treatment to address my individual needs which gave me a better perspective on a number of personal issues”. Joanne

“I had struggled for over a year with an irrational thought that my teeth were going to fall out. I had had a bad experience with a dentist and through lack of communication on his part, got it into my head that they would fall out. I left the dentist immediately and joined a new one who confirmed my teeth were NOT going to fall out. However, I had already started with symptoms of nightmares, pain and severe psychological stress. I had X-rays, numerous check ups and even though these were clear, I still believed my teeth were falling out. I decided to go and see Alan, as he had helped me in the past. After as little as three sessions with him, all may fears had gone. In time, the physical symptoms I had created lifted and the nightmares stopped. Approximately 18 months of pain finally gone and the best part is I believe everything my new dentist says now and have a great relationship with the Practice. Thank you Alan”. Fiona.

“After four failed attempts to pass my driving test due to extreme anxiety I decided to have hypnotherapy and chose Alan Gray because I could see that he had qualifications and plenty of experience. On my initial assessment session with Alan I was quite sceptical and suspected that hypnotherapy might not work, but thought I would give it a try because I had tried everything else. Alan was very welcoming and I felt at ease immediately. Even as I laid listening to Alan there were parts of me that thought 'this is not going to work', but I persevered and stayed for the session. On the day of my driving test I felt different, I was still anxious, but this time I could focus. To my surprise my anxiety felt manageable and I could fully concentrate and even my mind slowed down. I would really like to thank Alan because I passed my driving test on the day”. Adele
